Well, obviously I haven't updated this in a while! Football season and Young Life school year starts and as usual everything gets put on the back burner. Whoops. I'm starting an early New Years goal and will be trying my best to update at least once a week from now on. Schedule and budget will round out those early goals (I would say working out....but that just makes me laugh). Lets see, what has happened lately to me?
I'm currently in Seattle for Thanksgiving Leave, rounds out my trip starting with flying with the Army football team to Dallas last weekend. We played at University of North Texas and I got the opportunity to fly down and work the game! Thank goodness Army won, which means we are 5-6 going into the Army/Navy game on December 12th in Philadelphia. That means we need to beat Navy to make it to our bowl game at the Eagle Bank Bowl in D.C. on Dec. 29th. Now, if I had gotten my undergrad at any other school in the world, I'd say our chances of winning this game was about 2%. However, I went to Wazzu, home of the wackiest team I've ever seen, so I believe Army has a fair chance of beating Navy. I watched as Wazzu killed a pup six game winning streak to beat the pups, and have won almost every game except one (in '06) since. Hey, if the Cougs can do it, I might as well get to witness Army do it!
After spending a few extra days in Dallas with my mom's side of the family, I flew up to Seattle then drove over to Tri-Cities. This was on Monday so I took the opportunity to surprise my old Young Life club at Southridge. Boy was that a surprise! I only told Amy I was in town so when I walked into the clubroom for the pre-club meeting, she calmly said "Oh hi Hannah" and then everyone went crazy, it was the greatest feeling I've ever had. I got attacked by all my girls, hugs and kisses and loves and it was amazing. I love that although I've been gone for 11 months now, we still have the same connections as when I was still here. This means so much to me, to not feel forgotten or that they've moved on, that I still have them as my girls and they've turned into FRIENDS.
Got to hang out with my friends for a few days, I realized this is what I've been missing. I love my job at Army, I'm learning so much and making great connections, but I miss the fellowship. I do have a few great friends in New York, they have helped me so much these past 11 months. I realized I built that up over a few years, and when I got to NY I expected to have all these relationships at my fingertips. I expected to have an instant group of girls I was close to with YL and was disappointed when that didn't happen. It took me a while to get the amazing group of girls I have in Tri, we built up relationships over retreat weekends, camp, club and random contact events. I'm not too worried though, because I have met great people in NY and relationshps are growing! :)
Getting ready for Apple Cup tomorrow at pup dump. It will be fun to see old friends and my team play in person. I have been to every Apple Cup since I was a freshman except two, 2001 and 2003. I also have never seen us lose on pup soil, both football and baseball. No matter what happens tomorrow, I am determined to have a good time (those of you who know me however, know how I will really be....stressed out and nervous faced).
Enough for now, more later! Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving!
